PAINT MY LOVE
Paint My Love was the first of a total of 12 demos that we threw ourselves upon, and since
we all liked the result, we decided to 'let it loose' almost a year before it was actually
due.
SLEEPING CHILD
I got the idea one evening, as I was messing about with another and much more powerful
song. Then I heard my little daughter crying in the next room, and to calm her down, I
switched to the chords that later became "Sleeping Child".
THAT'S WHY (You Go Away)
This song was written and issued on a demo already before the release of our first album.
Later it was put away, but not forgotten. I wonder what would have happened to us and to
the song, if it had been on MLTR no. 1?
THE ACTOR
"The Actor" became our first great hit, not only in Denmark, but all over
Scandinavia. It was also the pioneer for the first tender international success. A DJ on a
radio station in Indonesia got hold of the CD, and the rest is history.
WILD WOMEN
Began as a piano riff without vocals or chorus. Often I turn up with the songs as finished
demos, but with "Wild Women" it was different. The song was created in the
studio together with the rest of the band.
LOVE WILL NEVER LIE
Originally it was written as a draft title song for a film, but when the film came to
nothing the song was later used as an instrumental theme for a music programme on Danish
television. When we started on "Pepper", this song was part of the pool, and it
turned out well in the new studio version.
I STILL CARRY ON
In 1989 when we contacted EMI Medley in Denmark, this song was the reason why we landed
the contract. "The Actor" had not yet been finished, but existed as an
incomplete demo.
COMPLICATED HEART
The song that we always turn to when playing unplugged on stage or at the strangest places
during our promotion tours. This song always works, and with the band it has always been a
special favourite.
BREAKING MY HEART
The second of the two new songs on this CD. This song almost played itself, and we
finished it within a few days. Originally, it was written for a well-known Danish singer,
but she forgot to come back for it - fortunately.
SOMEDAY
The first song from the "Pepper" session. It was released in May 1995 as the
first single and feeler, about five months before the release of "Pepper",
primarily because we were going on a tour. The song became a huge success and cleared the
way for much advance interest in the album.
OUT OF THE BLUE
Was released as a single in South East Asia without our knowledge. We were kindly informed
when it topped the chart in a number of countries.
25 MINUTES
One of our three absolutely greatest hits in South East Asia. In Singapore it was elected
"Best performance of a song" for the year 1994.
BREAKING THE RULES
The opening song from "Pepper" and always our "opener" during the 1996
tour that we have just finished.
HOW MANY HOURS
The third single from "Pepper". When shooting the video for "How Many
Hours" in Norway at minus 16oC, our fingers and noses were so numb and red with cold
that the director found it necessary to do a thorough repair work with the paintbox to
make all of us in the band look normal.
CRAZY DREAM
Finished in Los Angeles, US, in connection with the recording of our first album. If the
first album had survived longer, it would quite certainly have been a good choice for a
fourth single.
